Friday 17th November supporting Sebastian Bach, Torquay town Hall...review by ROCKBEAST.COM

Mummysmack
Dirty yet uplifting rock n roll is what Mummysmack produce and they do it well, very well. Making this their official launch for their new single ‘Obsession/Long Ride’ they turned up the bass as the powerful vocals carried right to the back of the hall. Looking the epitome of rock n roll stars, which is exactly what they will be if they keep at it and get noticed then the hard work will have paid off. Using female vocals to their advantage Mummysmack proved their worth and some.

Review of November 11th gig at The Pheonix in Plymouth by LUCE @ plymouthgigs.co.uk

The night began with female fronted band Mummy Smack. I was interested to see this band at the beginning purely because of their name! Every time I hear “female fronted”, I immediately think another No Doubt wannabe band then, but thankfully this wasn’t the case. Vaguely like Brody Dalle, if I really have to compare; a very powerful and almost masculine voice fronted Mummy Smack. When thinking of a word to describe them, thrash keeps popping up in my head. They definitely weren’t thrash as in the thrash metal/hardcore sense of the word, but more thrashing! Fantastic guitar riffs littered every song, with heavy drumming complementing it perfectly. Just listened to Obsession and I really liked it. Very New York Dolls meets Siouxie Sioux!?! Will definately try and catch you at the Cavern on the 24th May.

Plymouth Pheonix 14th june 2004 review by Jason @ http://www.phoenixlivegalleries.co.uk

Second band to hit the stage were Mummy Smack, who are a female fronted four piece from Exeter. The band impressed with their musical ability, excellent guitar riffs in their set, which blended well with the drums and bass guitar, the female vocals were good, although it did tend to get a little lost in the louder sections of the set, but that’s not really a problem, it didn’t detract from the performance. When the bassist and guitarist joined in on backing vocals, It was almost like Two Day Rule being up there on stage, although they didn’t have quite the same stage presence as Two Day Rule, but it was good all round performance.

Next band were Mummy Smack (that's such a cool name!). A female fronted band who played pure rock. They had some really catchy guitar riff's and in general were a very talented group of musicians. The female vocalist had a very good voice although I personally thought that she could have done with putting a little more power into her performance. Never the less she was kind on the ear and had ENORMOUS boots. A little off topic I know but they were pretty big. I thought they were trousers ... ahem.. anyway. The coherency of their sound was very impressive and they got a good response from the crowd. There wasn't really much movement but this was the kind of music you could watch and just appreciate and not feel like you were insulting the band. From the sound of the clapping and cheering throughout the night I gathered the bands were being well received.
